Saturday August 4th – The Animal Masquerade

website: www.animalmasquerade.com/

From the creators of The Edwardian Ball, San Francisco’s most beloved, theatrical, costume gala, comes a new creation of wild proportions – The Animal Masquerade. Rosin Coven and Vau de Vire Society, co-hosts of this primal soiree, present new music, theatrical works, choreography, and tall tales in an elegant dancehall setting. As one might imagine, this one-of-a-kind night raises a bevy of questions: What happens when the dainty darlings of civilization encounter the wild? What happens when feral creatures are captured for our entertainment? What goes on when the cages are opened and night falls upon the zoo? Will the dancing hippo
find glory? Will the cruel zookeeper get his just desserts? There’s only one way to find out....info and tickets at ww.animalmasquerade.com. Also featuring Gypsy Klezmer Cabaret by the fabulous Vagabond Opera from Portland, Oregon.

$20 advance or for animals, $25 at the door general admission, all ages 6+. Flock to it!

I haven't seen the Yard Dog Road Show since the Chaos Tugboat Party, years ago. Remember that?

We just got our tickets to the show and are really excited to see both of these amazing bands at the Fillmore. Juicy has her outfit already picked out and I'm always ready to go!

I dropped the ball

Juicy and I got back into the city in December and in a case of gross oversight, we missed the ticket sales. So I am looking for some kind soul to help us out of this rather dire situation. I've tried the boys in the band to no avail. Not even a call back.

And the thing is, I just bought a morning jacket that was made in 1914, and it fits like a glove. When and where else am I going to find occasion to wear this gem?

Please, please, please, if you know where I can get my hands on a pair of tickets, contact me. Many thanks,

So, I didn't get a chance to get tickets to the ball, but the sideshow last night was awesome. I especially liked Loop!station, Vau de Vire Society, and Fleeky's performance with the bricks!
INFO: www.edwardianball.com or (510) 506-2210

SAN FRANCISCO: The Edwardian Ball is an elegant, whimsical, humorous and macabre celebration of live music, theatre, dancing, costumery, and the works of Edward Gorey. Founded as a partnership between Rosin Coven, the Worlds Premiere Pagan Lounge Ensemble, and the Cat Club, a darkly charming South of Market nightclub, The Edwardian Ball has formed a unique tradition that each year features a different Gorey story and numerous live performers. Each year Rosin Coven, the eight-piece Edwardian House Band, brings the stories to life with narration and live musical scores as the stories are acted out before your eyes, most often requiring audience participation. This years stories include "The Evil Garden" and "The Disrespectful Summons," sure to cause a proper Edwardian commotion.

The already atmospheric Cat Club is further transformed each year by the bewitching dÈcor of Puppets and Pie. In addition to their infamous puppetry, Puppets and Pie metamorphosizes the experience into a rich world of Edwardian and Gorey-inspired art and characters, replete with black and white forests, doubtful guests peering from the shadows, giant bugs buzzing from the rafters, and an antique photo booth poised for your portrait.

With the addition of fiendish femme fatale Jill Tracy in piano and song, and the world-class (yet highly inappropriate) aerial and acrobatic antics of Vau de Vire Society, this years Edwardian Ball promises to be the finest yet. Edwardian disc jockeys Miz Margo, Decay, and Jay T Tempura add their eclectic musical selections to the mix, from the opening hour of ballroom dancing to the late-night hours of classic Cat Club dance music.

Please, do join us.
You're certain to have a Ball!

Rosin Coven @ The Acid Cabaret Friday

The Acid Cabaret is the notorious and deep
underground, pro/am, survival of the fittest live and
on screen mayhem dedicated to freedom of
speech and the politically incorrect. Hosted by
the mercurial Partyball, a one-man lysergic/Jack
Daniels collision fiasco, The Acid Cabaret, cuts
across all performance disciplines and
incorporates elements of the sublime, ridiculous,
starkly beautiful, supremely talented and
horrifically abject.

The Acid Cabaret disclaimer states in plain and
intelligible writing that this type of event is
probably not for the faint at heart or the politically
correct.

Bring on the freak!

Friday, October 29
@ The 12 Galaxies San Francisco
2565 Mission St @ 22nd
(this is a private party and you are invited)
9:00 pm

Rosin Coven will start the show @ 9:00 pm, you don't want to miss these lovely people and music. Bring it on in early!

Tickets are on sale for The Acid Cabaret and are
going fast. The password to buy tickets will be
BROMEDOWN and you can get them at
www.virtuous.com which is the advanced ticket
sales medium that 12 Galaxies uses.
I highly recommend you buy tickets in advance.

10$ advance
15$ at the door in costume
20$ at the door in no costume

We are selling a limited number in advance and
once they are gone, we'll have to wait and see
how the night feels before selling many more at
the door with the idea that Halloween is pretty
transient and people hop around some since there
is so much to do. We have a feeling most people
will be committed to the idea of staying at the
cozy and hospitable 12 Galaxies to enjoy the wild
and entertaining ASS CAB, thusly recommending
you purchase in advance.

We are looking forward to your freakiness!
I'm looking for a ride to the event. I live in San Luis Obispo, Ca. If you want to go I'm up for paying for gas back and forth to SF. The key is that we must arrive at least three hours before Rosin Coven plays and I have to come back to SLO that night as I work on Monday early.

The Dead Hensons, Dr. Abacus, Kitten on the Keys next Wed

July 21
The Dead Hensons
Kitten on the Keys

"Attention Children of all ages!! When the hand goes up, the mouth goes shut. The Dead Hensons have arrived. They are the world's favorite pied pipers of Muppet mayhem and smokin' hot Sesame Street tunes!! This San Francisco Bay Area group combines banjo, accordion, horns and other assorted instruments to bring you the music of Jim Henson. Your homework tonight is to study this wonderful world of music from our collective childhoods."
http://www.niver.net/deadhensons.html

"Complete with their own version of the Sesame Street theme, Dr. Abacus is puttin' it down with what we lovingly call cartoon jazz, Zappa jazz or just crazy jazz. Unleashing an unabashedly quirky, flamboyant and caffeinated weird Jazz composite with enough spunk to keep your nervous twitchin' up to speed, this group, armed with their 64-count jumbo box of half-eaten crayons, is refusing to stay in the lines and keep the glue bottles out of their noses.

"Cute, kicky, irrepressible, irresistible, licentious, lewd, dizzy, delightful -- that's Kitten on the Keys. It's been a couple of years since the Lollies' utterly go-going-gone-are-her-panties piano player set out on her own with nothing but a toy piano, an accordion, two roller skates, a whip, a ukulele, a pair of stilts, a plethora of custom-made bustles and bustiers, and a steamer trunk full of feather ticklers, colored wigs, and edible pasties. And what a wild and winsome time it's been. Even with the abundance of burlesque and bally in this town, Suzanne Ramsey, as the Kitten is named, is San Francisco's finest ambassador of bada-boom. A veritable one-woman vaudevillian show, she has proven her chops as a sexy chanteuse, sassy comedienne, and gutsy mistress of ceremonies; she has enlivened Burlesquefest in Canada, MCed Tease-O-Rama in Los Angeles, fondled Liberace's ivories in Vegas, and fired imaginations throughout Europe"

I really don't think any of their other albums has really captured the lucious depths of Carrie's voice or the whimsy of their laid back style.

I really love Rosin Covens music.

Could ya tell? :)
